The Queen’s Young Leaders Programme has today Tuesday 13th January 2015 celebrated the announcement of the first 60 Queen’s Young Leaders Award winners from across the Commonwealth. Young Kenyan Environmentalist and Peace Ambassador from Garissa County, North Eastern, Mr. Abdikadir Aden, HSC has been selected as amongst the top 60 young people from 60 commonwealth countries to be meeting her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of England.
Through Queen’s Young Leaders Awards Programme, he will also be meeting Prince Williams and Prince Harry. This is a Youth Leadership and Mentorship programme that focuses on building leadership especially for the young people from Commonwealth Countries. The awards celebrate the achievements of exceptional young individuals from across the Commonwealth who have proved themselves to be inspiring leaders in their communities.
With his environmental conservation and positive engagement of youth in different developmental issues, this is another milestone for this role model, his inspiration and young leadership. This is good news for the entire country as well as young people. Abdikadir works with young people to educate and engage them on the issues of climate change. His green initiatives have had a positive effect on his community, creating job opportunities in areas such as environmental protection and conservation. He is currently leading an effort to plant one million trees.
“I got the news today and I am indeed very happy. No matter what you do, or how hard you try, when the right time comes for your greatest achievement, nothing will stop it. This celebrations goes to my entire family members for their moral support and everybody else who has been supportive in my entire life in my youth and conservation work. My special thanks goes to the Queen’s Young Leaders Programme for the opportunity. The year 2015 is a great year for me and especially in realizing the long term dreams of my life. I have always been offered the platform to excel and move forward. I will make Kenya Proud” says the young Ambassador.
Abdikadir will be undergoing through various mentoring programmes and interacting with other young people as well as leadership development by University of Cambridge.
The Queen’s Young Leaders Programme discovers, celebrates and supports exceptional young people from across the Commonwealth, leaving a lasting legacy for Her Majesty the Queen. The life changing Programme has been established by The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust and run in partnership with Comic Relief and the Royal Commonwealth Society in honour of The Queen’s 60-year contribution to the Commonwealth.
“I am looking forward to engaging more young people positively in their different societies and in nation building. The future is in our hands and we play a very critical role since we are composed of the largest population in our different societies.” He said.
Mr. Abdikadir Aden Hassan, was honored with the Head of State Commendation, he is African Development Ambassador as well as Peace and Environment Ambassador, as he gets another feather on his cap, Nepjournal wishes him all the best as he continues to change our lives for the better through his environmental conservation programs.
